Saint Joseph’s University Dance Marathon is a year-round fundraising event in which participants raise money with the support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA. SJU Dance Marathon donates 100% of the funds they raise to the hospital with 50% going directly to the Cancer Center at CHOP and 50% to the greatest need at the hospital.
Our goal is for every kid at CHOP to be cured of his or her sickness and have the childhood that they all deserve. SJU Dance Marathon culminated with a 12-hour long event celebrating the children’s from the hospital and the participant’s hard work. Families from the hospital join the participants in games, dancing, food, fun and celebration before the final total is revealed in the closing ceremony. It is a highly anticipated moment for everyone involved as the total is announced.
What is the inventive to stand on your feet for that long? “I dance for all the kids who aren’t able to dance for themselves”, says Court Simmons, Executive Director. SJU DM strives to unite students, faculty, staff and the community as a whole for one great cause.
